Aged parent visa
This visa is suitable for parents who are aged equivalent to a person considered eligible for and Australian Age pension.
Note that an aged parent submitting a successful visa application to migrate to Australia will not automatically be able to claim the Age pension. Every new Australian permanent resident is not entitled to make a claim for the Age pension or the Disability pension for ten (10) years following the date their permanent status in Australia was granted (excepting reciprocal agreements with other countries which may pay pensions).
Aged Parent (Residence) visa (subclass 804)
This visa entitles aged parents to remain permanently in Australia if the applicant has children living in Australia.
Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa (subclass 864)
This visa entitles aged parents to remain permanently in Australia if the applicant has children living in Australia, which is processed quicker than the Aged Parent visa but is more expensive.
Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 884)
This visa provides temporary residence in Australia for a period of up to two (2) years. Holders of this visa are permitted to apply for the Permanent Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa (subclass 864).
Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa (from subclass 884 to subclass 864)
This visa enables holders of a temporary Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 884), to apply for a permanent Contributory Aged Parent visa (subclass 864).
Other parent visas
Contributory Parent (Migrant) visa (from subclass 173 to subclass 143)
This visa enables those who hold of a temporary Contributory Parent visa (subclass 173) and who wish to apply for a permanent Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143) to do so.
If you are outside Australia
Parent (Migrant) visa (subclass 103)
This is a permanent visa suitable for parents whose children live currently in Australia.
Contributory Parent (Migrant) visa (subclass 143)
This is a permanent visa suitable for parents whose children live currently in Australia which is processed quicker the Parent visa but is more expensive.
Contributory Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 173)
This visa provides temporary residence in Australia for a period of up to two (2) years. Holders of this visa can then apply for the permanent Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143).
Contributory Parent (Migrant) visa (from subclass 173 to subclass 143)
This visa enables persons who hold a temporary Contributory Parent visa (subclass 173) to apply for a permanent Contributory Parent visa (subclass 143).
