Free Visa Eligibility Assessment

Free Skills Visa Eligibility Assessment updated to include new points test for skilled migration to Australia.

We have recently updated our FREE online Australian Visa Eligibility Assessment (VEA) to reflect the new points test which took effect on 1 July 2011.

This user-friendly online visa appraisal tool draws upon current Australian immigration law and policy to give you a reliable preliminary indication whether you are likely to satisfy the basic threshold criteria for an Australian visa.

The visa eligibility assessment tool has been updated to reflect the new points criteria for various characteristics and attributes for the following visa subclasses:

What does the new points test mean for me?

The points test is the primary basis for measuring an applicant’s suitability for skilled migration to Australia. The points test has been designed to create a standardised selection process for skilled migration applicants. It awards points for the skills and attributes considered to be in demand in Australia.

The new points test took effect on 1 July 2011

The pass mark on the new points test indicating eligibility for any Australian skilled migration visa is now 65 points. This new standardised pass mark ends the previous distinction between independent/sponsored visas and permanent/provisional visas by creating a universal standard that all prospective skilled migration applicants must meet.

Australia’s new points test recognises a broader range of skills and attributes. It emphasises

  • English language skills
  • extensive skilled employment
  • age suitability
  • high level qualifications (rather than awarding points for specific occupations).

Under the new points test all applicants for an Australian skilled migration visa must still nominate an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (embedded in our online assessment) and have their skills assessed in that nominated occupation.

The new points test also requires that applicants:

  • be younger than 50 years of age at the time of their application
  • meet the threshold English language requirement
  • provide evidence of recent skilled employment or appropriate study.

Further details of the the new points test can be found in this article: Points Test For Skilled Migration

Am I eligible for an Australian visa?

Our online Australian Visa Eligibility Assessment tool is an easy and reliable way for you to assess your likelihood of success when submitting a visa application based on the requirements of the new points test.

You can test your eligibility for other visa subclasses as well, and find out what your options are before you spend any money at all.

You simply select the visa subclass for which you wish to apply and our online assessment tool asks you a series of tailored questions specifically designed to quickly and automatically determine whether you are likely to be awarded enough points to reach the basic pass mark under the new points test. It also assesses whether or not you are likely to meet any additional threshold criteria for your nominated Australian skilled visa subclass.

Every applicant is different; every application is different

Unlike many other free online visa assessments, our assessment is accurate and specific for the services we specialise in. We do not make generic assessments, as we know it is impossible to give an accurate assessment using a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach.

Also, our Australian Visa Eligibility Assessment tool offers prospective applicants the opportunity to instantly and accurately assess their options for migration to Australia at no cost and with no delay. Other free online assessments require users to fill in a generic form and wait for the business to contact them.

This not the case with our assessment. Instead, users of our Australian visa eligibility assessment receive an instant assessment outcome.

Benefit from the test even if you don’t qualify

Whether your online assessment outcome is successful or unsuccessful, you also receive a detailed breakdown of the points you have been allocated under Australia’s new points test. This valuable diagnostic information allows you to see exactly where you need to make up points in order to qualify in future.

Results from our VEA reflect current Australian immigration practice, including the requirements of the new points test. The Australian Government rewards applicants whose contribution to the Australian economy and society will be long lasting and beneficial to the wider Australian community. The new points system is part of an ongoing effort to encourage young people with robust qualifications, excellent language skills and strong and stable employment experience to migrate to Australia.

We encourage all potential migrants to make use of this free, effective and accurate resource as a first step towards determining whether your particular circumstances and skills are sufficient to reach the 65 points you need to obtain an Australian skilled migration visa.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much will it cost to lodge a visa application?

A. You will need to pay a Visa Application Charge (VAC) upon lodging your visa application. This charge is payable to the Australian Government. All charges are non refundable (in all but exceptional circumstances) regardless of whether your visa application is ultimately granted or not. Because visa application fees are non-refundable, subject to certain exemptions, it is vital that you receive correct advice right from the start of the migration application process – this will save you time and money.
