The Removal of the Critical Skills List (CSL)

Last Updated on Tuesday, 27 July 2010

When the new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) is introduced in mid 2010, the current Critical Skills List (CSL) will be revoked and will therefore no longer be applicable to GSM visa applications.

The CSL was originally implemented as a temporary administrative tool while a comprehensive review of the Migration Occupation in Demand (MODL) was underway. This was to ensure that during this review migration applications were informed by and assessed according to the demands of the current Australian labour market.

If your nominated occupation is currently listed on the CSL you will still continue to receive priority processing for permanent skilled migration based on this until the CSL is revoked sometime in mid 2010.

Haag Walker Lawyers intend to keep abreast of all changes; both implemented and proposed, and can provide updated information to clients regarding how these changes affect current and proposed GSM visa applications for skilled migration to Australia.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can you offer any guarantees that my visa application will be successful?

A. Unfortunately, we cannot offer you any guarantees regarding the outcome of your application. For a visa application to be successful, you as the applicant must satisfy all requirements of the visa class being applied for. This is ultimately up to the Department of Immigration & Citizenship.
