New Salary level for Subclass 457 English language exemptions

Last Updated on Monday, 04 July 2011

The salary threshold at which English language testing can be waived is being indexed by 5 per cent, increasing from $81,040 to $85,090. This new higher exemption salary amount applies to all nominations lodged on or after 1st July 2010.

The transition to ANZSCO from ASCO will not affect which occupations which can be nominated by employers or which occupations are exempt from the English language requirement, except that from 1st July 2010 these occupations will be referenced according to ANZSCO instead of ASCO.
