Immigration authorities in South Australia have advised that the revised 2011-1012 State Migration Plan (SMP) and State Sponsored Migration List (SSML) is in the final stages of being approved.
In the meantime, South Australia’s current State Sponsored Migration List will remain in operation until further notice.
On 11 July 2011, the South Australian Government reopened its online Sponsorship Application System and is accepting eligible applications for a limited number of occupations still available under its current SSML.
The South Australian Government is taking applications for state sponsorship in various occupations under the following visa subclasses;
- Skilled - Sponsored (Migrant) visa (subclass 176)
- Skilled - Sponsored (Residence) visa (subclass 886)
- Skilled - Regional Sponsored (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 475)
- Skilled - Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 487)
Click here to view the full list of all occupations available for state sponsorship in South Australia under these visa subclasses.
Note that due to planning levels, limits or ‘caps’ are set on each occupation listed.
When the ‘cap’ for each occupation is reached (meaning that the maximum number of visas allowed for that occupation have been issued), that occupation will then become unavailable for state sponsorship and subsequently removed from the South Australian State Sponsored Migration List.
After an occupation limit has been reached, any further sponsorship applications nominating that occupation will not be processed.
